Approximately 6,000 of these pistols were manufactured around 1872-1888. They were designed for use by the U.S. Army and were sold to the U.S. Government, but they were not widely used by the military because of the adoption of the Colt Single Action Army shortly after this pistol entered into cavalry field trials. It has the standard markings and features including the "P S" proof on the left of the frame and "C.R.S." cartouche on the left side of the grip.

Very fine overall, retains 80% original blue and 85% casehardened finish. The hammer and breech block are almost entirely their original bright finish. The grips have some minor dings and dents with a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
