U.S. Civil War Remington Old Model Army Model Revolver

Manufactured early in the Civil War, circa 1861. The revolver has a brass trigger guard and walnut grips. Single letter sub-inspectors markings on the left and right rear barrel flat, "J", "S" on the left front frame and trigger guard, "A" upper left frame, "E" lower left rear frame and "J" and "S" on the cylinder. The matching serial number is on the bottom barrel flat and left side of the frame under the grip. Fitted with two piece smooth walnut grips with an illegible boxed cartouche on the lower left panel.

Rating definitionGood. The metal surfaces have a brown patina with overall scattered minor dents and dings, and some minor pitting. The trigger guard has an aged patina. The grips are fair with a few minor chips along the bottom edges, a chip on the upper left side at the frame, and scattered minor dents and dings. The action is fine.
