Description:

Manufactured from 1884 to 1890. Fitted with a standard 1/2 inch globe wind-gauge Marlin-Ballard Type B front sight and Marlin's Improved Vernier peep sight. The rifle lacks provision for a rear sporting sight. Checkered forearm with slight Schnabel and perch belly pistol grip stock with roll over cheekpiece and nickel plated Swiss buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 75% original blue finish with thinning to a brown on the balance. The frame, hammer, breech block and lever retain 85% original case colors. The buttplate retains 70% original nickel finish. The wood is very fine showing a few hairline stress cracks in the grip area, some minor dings and scratches and some wear in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
