The Zanotti family of Santa Maria near Bologna have been handcrafting complete shotguns for 400 years, and through 12 generations, the business remains firmly in the hands of the Zanotti family. A feat few gunmakers in the world can boast. The company manufactures only between 10 and 12 completed guns per calendar year, with each being a unique special order item. Single bead sight on the finely matted rib, the left barrel marked "ZANOTTI 1625 GARDONE V.T. ITALY", standard Italian proofs on the flats, 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and full chokes. The coin finished box lock action features highly detailed leafy scroll engraving with fine punch dot backgrounds surrounding detailed game scenes of a pheasant on the right, quail on the left, and a retriever with a woodcock on the underside. The trigger plate is signed "Inc. Aldo Rizzini" to the right of the trigger. Extra fancy checkered forearm and straight grip stock with engraved fittings and a checkered bare butt. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 2 inches; length of pull 14 3/8 inches.

Excellent overall. 99% original blue finish remains with some light handling marks. The wood is also excellent with highly attractive grain and figure, crisp checkering, and only a few small dings. Mechanically excellent.
