The accompanying Olin Mathieson Chemical Corp. invoice lists a Model 12 with a 28 inch vent rib barrel in 16 gauge, WS-1 choke, pigeon grade, B carving on the full fancy American walnut pistol grip stock selected by factory employee, and 12-1 factory engraving, all features on this shotgun. The invoice also indicates that the shotgun was consecutively numbered to a 20 gauge Model 12 serial number 1704664, the craftsmanship was "to be of the finest quality possible," and it was an internal transfer to an employee at the Winchester-Western Division at East Alton, IL. The invoice is ink stamped "MANUFACTURING/10 23 57/SET PLACED." Standard Winchester markings including the factory oval proof on the receiver and barrel and pigeon on the magazine collar, dual bead sights on the matte vent rib, factory scroll engraving on a punch dot background on the sides of the receiver, jeweled bolt and lifter, fancy checkered and figured walnut forearm and pistol grip stock, and factory grip can and checkered buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches. Comes with a reproduction hanging tag ink stamped "SELECT WOOD," instructions, and box. The reproduction box has a end label hand numbered to the gun, ink stamped "SPECIAL/PIGEON/SELECT WOOD," and additional hand written notations such as "VENT," WS1," "ENGRAVING," and "B-CARVING," which are the features on this shotgun. This shotgun was special ordered and consecutively serialized to the previous lot.

Near mint as upgraded with 99% finish showing only the slightest handling marks. The box is very fine showing only minimal handling/storage wear. An attractive engraved Winchester Model 12 16 gauge that will be a wonderful addition to any Winchester shotgun collection.
