Offered here is a variation (fourth model) of Merwin, Hulbert & Co.'s large frame double action revolver manufactured exclusively by Hopkins & Allen in the 1870s and 1880s with barrel rib, pinned front sight, square butt with lanyard ring and conventional cylinder flutes. The frame is marked "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER 1873", the designation for 44-40 caliber, on the left side. The butt is blank, "2460" is on the back of the right grip panel, and matching numbers ("4483") are found on the left side of the grip frame, rear cylinder face and barrel lug.
