Description:

Manufactured as part of Springfield's final serial number block of M1 Garands, this is an early pattern National Match M1 Garand Rifle. Due to rules in place that required National Match weapons to be essentially "as issued", none of the more extensive upgrades seen on later NM Garands are present on the Type I. In lieu of proprietary components, the Type Is were hand-picked and shown great attention to fit and detail, making them "as issued" but of the highest possible quality. Blade front and peep rear sights, with "WH/SA" windage drum, "B S" elevation drum, and an "8 56" Springfield barrel bearing a number of small proofs ("T", "P", "M", "DoD Eagle", etc.) on the chamber and "NM (5-pointed star)" on the left side ahead of the handguard. The bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety and relief-cut op rod are Springfield components. The stock is marked with a serifed "P" on the wrist, the DoD "eagle" on the left side, and fitted with a steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% plus original arsenal finish, showing some light handling marks and edge wear. The re-oiled stock is very fine, with a mended chip at the toe and scattered dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
