Dated to February of 1940. Single bead sight, with the barrel marked for a cylinder choke and a 2 3/4 inch chamber. The U.S. markings are present on the upper left side of the receiver ahead of "MILITARY FINISH", with the Remington trade mark on the left side over the serial number, "W" on the trigger guard and "THE/SPORTSMAN" on the bolt. Smooth forearm and pistol grip stock, with the Ordnance "crossed cannons" cartouche ahead of "FJA" (WWII-era inspector Frank Atwood) on the left side of the buttstock, a serrated Remington buttplate and a 14 inch length of pull.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% plus original blue finish, showing some mild spotting and handling marks overall, along with some light edge wear. A small indentation is visible on the left side of the slide beneath the finish, possibly a factory machining error. The stock is very fine, with a 2 1/2 inch long crack in the underside of the forearm, along with a number of scuffs and dings. Mechanically excellent.
