Description:

Originally manufactured as a First Issue Navy, this Luger was arsenal updated to the Second Issue pattern by altering the safety mechanism to operate like the Army-issue 1908; the lever is lowered to engage the safety, with the original "GESICHERT" marking partially removed from the lower position and restamped in the upper position. Additionally, "W.D./390." is stamped on the rear of the grip frame, possibly indicating issue through Werft Danzig, an Imperial Navy shipyard and a major nerve center for Kaiserliche Marine operations. Blade front and two-position adjustable rear sights, with the "crown" and "crown/M"(x2) stamps on the left side of the undated chamber, the "DWM" toggle marking, and (sans magazine) matching external numbers. The grip safety is installed on the back strap, with straw finished small parts, niter blue pins and springs, and checkered grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 85% of the blue finish, showing areas of gray patina, brown spotting and mild edge wear and handling marks. 60% of the original straw colors remain. The grips are fine, with some small chips around the magazine catch, dents and flat spots. Mechanically excellent.
