Description:

According to the included factory letter, this revolver was part of a six-piece order shipped to E.J. Post & Company of Albuquerque, New Mexico Territory, on August 30, 1902. The letter notes that this shipment is "c/o Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, Connecticut", with a remark that Colt was under an arrangement c.1895-1915 where Winchester was acting as their export agent. Blade and notch sights, with the two-line Hartford address and "45 COLT" on the barrel, and the two-line, three-date patent markings next to the Rampant Colt on the frame. No "VP" stamp is present on the trigger guard, which along with the back strap is numbered to match the frame. Fitted with a set of checkered Rampant Colt grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 80% of the bright original high polish blue finish, showing brown streaking around the cylinder, areas of brown patina on the grip straps, bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The frame shows traces of the original case pattern, with much of the surface having faded to brown or silvered out. The grips are fine as mixed-numbered later production replacements, slightly undersized with a few light dents. Mechanically excellent.
