This rifle is similar to other North Carolina rifles, particularly those from Salem and Davidson County, pictured Ivey's "North Carolina Schools of Longrifles, 1765-1865," but is unsigned. Regional attributes include a small button for a patch box release located at the tail of the upper patch box side plate, serpentine/guilloche side plates, the distinctive carving on the top of the comb, and a pierced toe plate. The engraved lock side plate is also in the form of a bald eagle, and eagles were common ornaments on rifles from this region. It has scroll and dog patterns on the lock and double set triggers.
