Description:

The only visible marking is "B/06" behind the hammer, but "WARNANT" and "106" are also marked on the left side of the upper tang beneath the stock. The pump is fitted under the barrel. The barrel, reservoir, and action are Damascus, and the buttplate and trigger guard are nitre blued. There are gold and silver inlaid border designs on the breech, trigger guard, and heel. It has post and notch sights and a checkered stock with relief carved scrollwork. The Warnant family of Belgium manufactured parlor rifles with similar style trigger guards and stocks. The design was patented by Paul Giffard of France and patented in the 1860s. Most appear to have been manufactured in Belgium.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with strong original brown finish and Damascus patterns, 30% original nitre blue on the trigger guard, most of the original gold inlay, aged patina on the silver inlays, mottle brown patina on the balance, minor oxidation, crisp checkering and carving, and minor scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent including the pump (not pumped to higher pressures).
