Description:

This particular registered Magnum, number 4501, has an extremely scarce 7 inch barrel. According to S&W historian Roy Jinks, only 72 Registered Magnums had 7 inch barrels. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 7 inch barrel, Call gold bead front sight, square notch rear sight, blue finish and checkered walnut Magna grips. The revolver was shipped on March 9, 1939, and delivered to Abercrombie & Fitch Co. of New York City. The revolver also has standard S&W markings with "REG. 4501" stamped on the inside of the frame, matching assembly numbers on the frame and crane, unnumbered grips and matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder and ejector shroud. Comes with a period correct S&W Registered Magnum box. Provenance: Ray Cheely collection.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 99% original blue finish showing slight muzzle wear, limited minor scratches and a cylinder drag line. Nearly all original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The replacement grips are excellent showing minimal handling evidence and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with a small hole on a lid side and minor wear.
