Description:

Most famous for its use in the Dreyse Rifle, this revolver applies the needle-fire concept on a smaller scale and operates in double action. The cylinder is not completely bored through for loading from the breech and instead has a small hole in the rear face of each chamber. It is loaded from the front with paper cartridges. The needle extends through the hole puncturing the cartridge and striking an enclosed mercury primer which in turn ignites the powder charge. It has blade and notch sights, a Gothic "K" on the front of the frame, "v. DREYSE SOMMERDA." on the top strap, "Cal: 0,35" on the right side of the frame, matching serial numbers (frame, cylinder, bolt housing, and grip), scroll engraving and silver wire inlays, checkered grip, and lanyard ring. Fitted with a contoured one-piece checkered grip with a lanyard ring on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very good with strong traces of original blue finish in the protected areas under the grip and otherwise brown and gray patina, minor oxidation, and mild wear. The grip is very good and has crisp checkering, smooth oiled finish, and light scratches and pressure marks. It mechanically needs work: components are absent, and the mechanism currently only recocks consistently if run with the barrel aimed straight up.
