Blacked stepped barrel signed "HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND ST. LONDON." and "HOLLAND'S .375 MAGNUM RIMLESS CARTRIDGE" and fitted with a band mounted front sling eye. Stippled ramp mounted bead front sight with hinged tunnel cover and checkered raised quarter rib with stippled ramp and rear express sight of one fixed leaf graduated for "50" and "200" yards and one folding leaf graduated for "350" yards, each leaf with platinum inlaid center line. Blacked receiver with stippled panel to the receiver ring and bridge and struck on the underside with the Mauser serial number "53134" for circa 1912. Blued magazine floor plate engraved "5 CTGES" and trigger guard engraved with the serial number. Figured 14 1/2 inch pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece and checkered grip and fore-arm, the left upper fore-arm edge with thirteen pins possibly indicating kills. Casehardened pistol grip cap with hinged trap cover, the trap containing a spare front sight element serial numbered to the rifle. Grooved dark horn butt plate. The underside of the butt inset with a silver escutcheon engraved with initials and fitted with a blued iron rear sling eye. Weight: 8 lbs. 11 oz. London nitro proof marks for 56 grs Cordite and 300 grs bullet.

Very fine as professionally refurbished during period of use. The metal parts retaining nearly all their blacked finish with some light surface spotting. Markings are clear throughout. Stock is very fine with a small repaired crack on the left side of the forend tip and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: William J.
