Description:

Originally manufactured in 1900 as a cavalry carbine, this Lee-Enfield was later reworked for use by the Royal Irish Constabulary, primarily by altering the carbine to accommodate an 1888 sword bayonet. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the left side of the chamber and receiver showing a set of "double arrow" stamps, Birmingham proofs and commercial style tonnage/bore diameter markings as well as a large "E" on top, with the socket marked with the Victorian cipher over "ENFIELD/1900/L.E.C/I*" on the left side. The stock has been stamped with a round "BIRMINGHAM/(arrow)/1903/I*" mark on the right side next to a brass disc marked "4.'04/R.I.C/4046", with a short magazine secured to the receiver with a chain link, and an unmarked brass buttplate. The muzzle and forearm tip have been reconfigured for the bayonet, and a set of screw heads for mounting a rear sight protector have been removed from the forearm.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished, with 80% of the blue finish, showing some areas of brown/gray patina and mild handling marks. The bolt is a mixed numbered replacement. The stock is very good, with dents and scuffs and some play in the buttstock. Mechanically excellent.
