This is a fine example of a late 1944 dated WWII British Enfield No. 4 MK 1(T) sniper rifle that is fitted with a Canadian No. 32 MK3 scope and mount. The buttsocket is marked "M47C/1944/N33867/TR", and the right side of the receiver ring is stamped "ENGLAND". It has a black wartime finish and a walnut buttstock, forend and handguards. The comb of the stock is fitted with a darkened, hardwood cheekpiece held on with two wood screws. It has the standard blade front sight and a "No. 7" marked rear sight. The buttstock is a post-war replacement that is stamped with: "SL/inverted V/Star" proof indicating it is an Australian/Lithgow produced buttstock. It is correctly stamped with the correct, albeit slightly smaller, "S51" stamping behind the pistol grip area indicating conversion by Holland & Holland. The top of the wrist is not numbered. The underside of the forend is stamped with several British acceptance proofs followed by serial number "33867". It is currently fitted with a No. 32 MK3 Canadian sniper scope that is marked "TEL. SIG/No.32 Mk.3/C.O.S. 2039A/R.E.L. CANADA/234-C", and it has the standard post and crosshair reticle pattern and a set of leather scope caps. It has a very rough cast mount that is numbered "90L8221"on the side. The scope rings are unnumbered, and the screws are unstaked. The scope is complete with an original Canadian marked heavy canvas scope case and the original British Ordance inspection/repackaging labels dated 1961. This sniper rifle rig is complete with one original No. 15 green wooden storage chest, two WWII British bayonets with scabbards - one spiked and one rounded, a scope adjustment tool, and a sling.
