Exceptional Japanese Baby Nambu Semi-Automatic Pistol with Two Matching Magazine and Original Clam Shell Holster and Shoulder Strap

This is an outstanding example of a pre-WWII Japanese "Baby Nambu" pistol that is complete with two original "matching" magazines, original Baby Nambu holster and shoulder strap. This pistol was manufactured at the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal in Koishikawa, Tokyo between 1903 and 1928. There were approximately 6,000 produced, with this pistol being mid-way in the production cycle. These pistols were designated as a Type "B" to differentiate it from the larger Grandpa and Papa Nambu series, and although never officially adopted by the military, they were authorized strictly for private purchase by high ranking officers in either the Army or Navy. The chamber bears the four intertwined cannon balls of the Tokyo Arsenal, and the right side of the receiver is marked with Japanese characters that identify the model above the serial number "3385". It has a high quality rust blue finish and straw colored trigger, magazine release, sear pivot pin and bolt lock with the bolt being finished bright. The grips are finely checkered hardwood or mahogany. The two magazines have the correct nickel-plated body with the original aluminum base correctly numbered and marked as follows: "3385" and "3385/." The holster is an original baby Nambu clamshell leather holster that has the original ammunition pouch on the front of the holster with the leather shoulder strap with green canvas cover. The holster has the rare Tokyo arsenal proof/acceptance mark on the inside of the flap over several Kanji symbols. This desirable pistol has matching visible numbers on both magazines, matching bolt, cocking knob, both grips and firing pin.

ConditionExcellent with 95% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with some oxidation and surface rust on the rear grip strap. The various small parts retain 60% of their straw colors overall with more color on the extractor. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct sharp checkering on both sides with only a light handling mark across the checkering on the right side next to the magazine release button. The holster is in very fine condition with a nice medium brown color overall and tight stitching showing only minor light scratches and handling marks overall from light use and handling. If you want to own one of the best Baby Nambus, here it is!
