Description:

The standard infantry rifle of Imperial Japan from 1899 to around 1905, when the Type 38 was introduced. This rifle features the standard inverted V blade type front sight and a V notch rear on a folding ladder graduated to 1,900 yards with a 2,000 yard top notch. The receiver is correctly unserialized and features the imperial mum and "Type 30" markings on top of the front ring, a manually operated sliding dust cover, and a small "spiral" floral stamp on the rear receiver bridge, which appears to be the crest of Siam; potentially a sale or exchange from surplus after the Type 38 was introduced. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock with a flat steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine, with 90% plus original blue finish, showing some light handling marks overall. The bayonet lug is numbered "745", and the stock shows numerous scattered dents and scuffs, otherwise very fine. Mechanically excellent.
