Description:

According to the included factory letter, this pistol was part of a 150-piece shipment addressed to the Officer in Charge of the Naval Supply Depot at Norfolk, Virginia, on April November 7, 1944. Purchased alongside the Colt 1903 32 ACP pistol, the Colt 1908 380 ACP pistol was issued to naval officers and agents of the Office of Naval Intelligence. In military service, issues were found with the 1908, specifically due to sharing some components with the 1903 that weren't fully interchangeable, requiring a widespread overhaul, denoted by the "M" stamps on the frame and magazine. Blade front and flat top notch rear sights, with a fine Colt blue finish, commercial style markings, "U.S. PROPERTY" on the right side of the frame, and the Ordnance "crossed cannons" stamp on the left. The grips are checkered with Rampant Colt medallions, and the magazine is full blue with "M" stamped on the floor plate. Included with the pistol is a reproduction plain brown "Kraft" style box with a cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% original blue finish, showing some mild edge wear and handling marks. The grips are also excellent, with some light dings and stains. The reproduction box is near new. Mechanically excellent.
