Matching numbers in white pencil are present inside the floorplate as well as in the operating rod cut in the stock. The stock is glass bedded, with a "DoD eagle" on the left side, circled serifed "P" on the underside of the wrist, a green canvas sling and a checkered steel buttplate. Included with the rifle With a glass bedded stock, numbered to match the rifle on the inside, with a serifed "P" on the grip, Department of Defense cartouche on the left side, and a checkered buttplate. Included with the rifle is paperwork that shows this as an as-new M1 National Match Rifle released by the Director of Civilian Marksmanship to William Lee Deneke in 1974; records show Colonel W.L. Deneke as the winner of the Lt. Paul J. Roberts Jr. Memorial Trophy in 1974, U.S. Army Forces Command Rifle Trophy in 1981 and namesake of the Colonel Bill Deneke Memorial Trophy for youth shooting.
