Description:

Manufactured after 1920, this musket has the two-line address/patent marking and "22 SHORT" on the left side of the barrel and is fitted with a dovetail blade front sight and adjustable frame mounted Lyman aperture rear sight. The Winchester oval proof is on the barrel and receiver. The upper tang has the trade mark information. "U.S./flaming bomb" is stamped between the upper tang and hammer. Fitted with a straight grip stock, a crescent buttplate, and forearm with grooves. Includes a canvas sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 85% original blue finish with the balance a mixture of smooth brown and gray patinas. The wood is fine with lightly hand marked initials on the buttstock, a hairline crack near the buttplate tang, some chipping near the metal surfaces and minor-moderate dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
