Description:

Produced from 1955 to 1964, the Model 58 was the first Remington semi-auto to move away from Browning's recoil-driven design, instead using gas operation. The F, or Premier, grade was the highest offered by Remington, with each one hand fitted by master gunsmiths and extensively engraved. Dual white bead sights on the vent rib with standard barrel markings and a 2 3/4 inch chamber; the choke measures improved modified, with "SKEET", a matching serial number and "KF Z" on the underside of the barrel and "58" on the lug, with a set of 6 inch long engraved wedges at the rear surrounding the chamber and address markings. The engraving continues onto the receiver with fine leafy scroll around detailed bird and dog scenes of pointers, quail, and ducks on the right, and setters, pheasant, and grouse on the left. A small letter "E" is present on the left side of the frame beneath the central dog scene; the "E" is associated with Carleton "Carl" Ennis, a Remington R&D man and factory engraver. Additional scroll engraving is present on the trigger guard surrounding a dog head. Very nicely figured semi-beavertail forearm and pistol grip stock with Remington grip cap and solid rubber Pachmayr recoil pad. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 1/8 inches; drop at heel 1 1/8 inches; length of pull 14 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 99% high quality refinished blue finish, showing some light handling marks. The wood is also very fine with attractive, dark figure, crisp checkering, and a few small dings. Mechanically excellent.
