The serial number on this Model 12 dates it to 1959, making it likely that this prototype was an effort to test the, soon to be released, Model 59's fiberglass sleeved barrel on other popular Winchester models. This version of the Model 12 was never released to the public. The shotgun is unmarked with the exception of Winchester "WP" proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech, and standard serial numbers on the underside of the receiver and takedown collar. The barrel has an affixed label marked "FIBERGLASS BARREL". The barrel is black fiberglass over a steel sleeve, with a 2 3/4 inch chamber, and full choke. Deluxe diamond pattern checkered extension forearm and nicely figured pistol grip stock with blue steel grip cap, inventory plaque on the left side marked "W 319", and checkered Winchester buttplate. The included FN America Certificate of Provenance identifies the shotgun by model and serial number, stating that is was previously a part of the Winchester Factory Collection where it was maintained by U.S. Repeating Arms.

Excellent. 99% original blue and black finish remains with some small marks on the magazine tube. The wood is also excellent with attractive figure, a few small dings, and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
