Introduced in 2004, the SCAR was fielded as a competitor to replace the M16/M4 platform as well as the U.S. military's assorted 7.62mm battle/designated marksman rifles. It is currently U.S. SOCOM's newest service rifle. 1/7" twist barrel with a pinned and welded Surefire flash hider and a flip-up front sight on the gas block, quad-rail forearm (keymold left, right, and bottom with extension), windage/elevation adjustable flip-up peep sight, extended reversible cocking handle, Raddlock magazine release, right handed bolt catch, ambidextrous safety with right handed extension, Magpul MOE pistol grip, and a folding adjustable buttstock. Magazine absent. Includes an EOTech L-3 holographic sight, Surefire X-300 Ultra flashlight, BCM vertical foregrip, and a 5.11 Tactical soft case.
