Manufactured in 1940 and subsequently refurbished. This is an example of a Winchester Model 61 rifle with a Routledge designed counter-bored smooth bore barrel. It has a single bead front sight, the Winchester legend along with "-22 LR.- SHOT ONLY-" marked on the left side of the barrel at the breech and the Winchester factory oval proof on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The magazine has a triangular loading port. The receiver tang is factory tapped for sight mounting, and the top of the frame has a matted sighting groove. The matching serial number is marked on the underside of the frame and on the trigger guard. Mounted on a 17 groove flat bottom forearm and smooth pistol grip stock with a checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine overall, retains 98% factory quality refinished blue with some scattered light handling marks and light cycling wear. The wood has a few light handling marks and a small chip near the upper tang. Mechanically excellent.
