Manufactured in 1940; according to the serial number ranges given in R.L. Wilson's "Colt's Dates of Manufacture" and information supplied on Colt's website, this would be the very first Ace pistol made for the year. Serrated blade front and adjustable notch rear sights, with the two-line address/patent markings and the Rampant Colt on the left side of the slide and "COLT <ACE> .22 LONG/RIFLE" on the right. The trigger guard is marked "60" and "T/VP", with a wide checkered hammer, short milled trigger, long grip safety, arched checkered mainspring housing, two-tone magazine and a "COLT ACE 22 MATCH" barrel. Includes a Colt "black box", mixed numbered but properly labeled, extra magazine, sight adjustment screwdriver, sight adjustment instruction hang tag, Special Instructions sheet, instructions/parts list, and a "Fitz Luck Target".
