This is an example of a Springfield Armory manufactured 1903 National Match Bolt Action Rifle. The serial number places this rifle as being manufactured in late 1924 and it has the standard 1903 type national match barrel that is marked "SA/flaming bomb/12-24". The muzzle is stamped with a star gauge mark and a star gauge number is stamped on the barrel under the handguard. The top of the bolt handle is stamped "W 3 L" and it has been numbered (electro penciled) with the last five digits of the serial number "68937" to match. It is fitted with the standard blade front sight and tangent rear sight that is marked from 1-28 (100-2,800 yards) with the polished face. The bolt is fitted with a early style headless cocking piece. It is mounted in a early style straight grip "S" stock with two reinforcing bolts, with finger grooves on the sides and a late pattern walnut handguard. The left side of the stock has a faint boxed "DAL" cartouche with a visible circled "P" proof on the underside behind the trigger guard. It is fitted with a checkered steel buttplate. The underside of the stock is not marked with either a drawing number or serial number. It comes complete with a 1921 pattern stamped front sight/muzzle cover with an O'Hare marked rear sight cover.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% of the original parkerized finish overall with thinning on the receiver, trigger guard and floorplate. The stock is also in very fine condition with a medium brown color overall on the stock and handguard with only very minor handling marks in a couple areas. The cartouches are clear and distinct but a little light. Mechanically excellent. A nice looking early 1903 Springfield bolt action national match rifle
