Description:

This set was formerly in the collection of noted collector Bob Johnson, and the tunic, shirt and tie can be seen (sans breeches) on pages 69-70 of the book "Field Uniforms of Germany's Panzer Elite" by Edwards and Pruett where it is listed as having "The last-pattern 'Hermann Goring' cuff title. . .This is the typical non-commissioned officer style for a Panzer soldier, as evidenced by the white-piped edges and embroidered lettering on a black background." It also stated "of interest are the Luftwaffe-unique collar tabs and national insignia." The tunic is black wool construction, with the white-on-black "HERMANN GORING" cuff title on the right sleeve, a set of rose pink waffenfarbe trimmed Unterfeldwebel (Sergeant) shoulder boards, tightly stitched Luftwaffe eagle on the right breast, silver piped collar with the distinctive pink piped "totenkopf" tabs, an Eastern Front ribbon through the button hole, and an Iron Cross First Class and Silver Wound Badge on the left breast. The interior has a partial rayon lining, with blue twill adjustment straps and no visible maker's marks. The left breast inside has a series of markings that appear to be: "70850100" over "59 60/32/80 44." The shirt is light blue, with a zig-zag stitched white-on-blue/gray eagle patch on the right breast and no shoulder boards. A maker's mark consisting of a small blue shield is on a loop on the interior, which is detached but included, and the tie is black with a "REINE SEIDE" mark on the back. The breeches are black wool construction, and the belt is black leather with a darkened metal rectangular Luftwaffe buckle.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall, with some light wear, stains and handling marks overall, heavier on the shirt.
