Description:

This smock was produced in single-sided "Splintermuster 41" (splinter pattern, 1943) camouflage on twill cloth, with a series of irregular green and maroon-brown geometric shapes on a tan field, with short green "splinter" lines to further break up the pattern. A finely stitched embroidered Luftwaffe eagle (tan eagle on feldgrau backing) white thread on a tightly trimmed green patch) is present on the right breast, with both sleeves fitted with a rare white on tropical tan Unteroffizier (corporal) "wing" rank patch. Blue plastic buttons run down the front, with a "ZIPP" brand zippers for the two angled collar pockets and a pair of hip pockets, a set of snaps around the bottom hem to convert the bottom into a pair of leg holes, an integral flare gun pouch on the back right side, and green and blue herringbone twill inner pockets and reinforcement. A "IIc" is in stamped on the left side interior, "2 II" hand marked near the bottom of the same side, and "IIc" hand marked on the bottom right. The bandolier is made from similar material, with blue enamel finished steel snaps and the left side interior marked "1943" below "0/0510/0052".

Rating Definition:

Very good overall, with some light wear and stains overall. Some material loss is visible on the rank patches, with a few thin spots in the smock fabric, and a single snap absent (possibly deliberately removed) from both sides of the bottom of the smock.
