Description:

Both the tunic and breeches are constructed from black wool, the former with a faded white makers mark inside the left breast, the latter with a set of faded size markings inside the waistband. The tunic is the Panzer "wrap" style, with a set of golden yellow waffenfarbe trim SS-Unterscharfuehrer (equivalent to a Heer Unterfeldwebel or American Sergeant) boards, the "SS" rune patch on the right collar, a single aluminum pip on the right, an Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon in the top buttonhole, and classically stitched SS eagle on the left sleeve. The combination of waffenfarbe color and tunic style indicates issues to an armored reconnaissance unit, which typically operated wheeled or half-tracked armored cars to serve as the eyes of the tank force, as well as a screening element against infantry and other light vehicles. The consignor states this group (the wrap and pants) came together. It was originally taken by a tanker of the 3rd Armored Division. Back in the States, they were sold to a woman in North Carolina, who later passed it on to Mark Bando (Writer on 101st Airborne) and then on to the present owner.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall, with some minor stains and handling marks.
