Closely patterned after the mountain cap, the 1943 field cap retained the folding side flaps and included a longer visor. While not documented, the black field caps are often associated with armored vehicle use. This example is constructed of black cloth, with two-piece "eagle" and "totenkopf" SS patches on the front, a single black plastic button securing the flaps, and a black twill lining stamped "58" and "R.B.Nr. 0/0675/5753".
