Description:

Originally produced in a dark green Heer style paint finish, which is still visible on the interior, this helmet has been repainted in white, showing some tan stains and traces of what appears to be the Heer decal on the left side. The paint job appears to be similar to known examples of unit-level resprays performed with surplus vehicle paint, with this coloration associated with winter action on both Eastern and Western Fronts; an attached tag suggests this specific helmet was an Ardennes Forest captured war trophy. The interior of the skirt is stamped "61" in the rear and "ET64" on the left side, with a 1938 dated chinstrap and brown leather webbing. The consignor stated this piece was sold by a veteran who was in the Battle of the Bulge.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with some edge wear and scuffing of the paint, mild spotting, and some areas of exposed steel. The leather is cracked and stained.
