Description:

This is an example of a very late production 1945 dated WWII British Enfield No. 4 Mk I (T) sniper rifle that is complete with a No. 32 Mk 3 sniper scope, scope mount, matching bolt, metal scope can and the wooden storage case. The left side of the buttsocket is marked "M47C/1945/X30086/TR". The rifle is fitted with the correct No. 32 Mk 3 scope (non-matching) that is marked on top of the tube "TEL.STG.No 32 MK3/O.S. 2039 A/C&T No. 24458" that is marked with both the blue "B" and red "W" indicating it is water proofed and has bloomed lens. The scope rings are numbered "804" and "805", respectively. The mounting bracket is stamped on the side with "U33578". As noted the scope comes with an original No. 8 metal telescope can, as manufactured by B&Co. It also comes with a set of original WWII British leather lens caps. The rifle has the standard blade front sight and Mk I rear sight. It is fitted with its correct semi-pistol grip walnut buttstock, unnumbered forestock and late handguards. The forestock is unnumbered and unproofed, however they are the correct versions and match the rifle correctly. The replacement buttstock is stamped "S51" directly behind the pistol grip area and the top of the wrist is stamped with number "21806". The comb has been fitted with a field replacement (birch) wooden cheekpiece held on with two wooden screws. The buttstock is fitted with an aluminum buttplate with the trap compartment. This lot comes with an original WWI type, two draw British scout/signal telescope. It is unmarked however it has an all leather outer cover and leather lens caps. The rifle comes with its original wooden storage/shipping container that is stenciled on the front Chest "S.A. No. 15 Mk I". The inside of the chest has the original wooden dividers/compartments and the correct equipment label on the inside of the lid and a single strap leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine overall with 95% of the arsenal British black phosphate metal finish with minor edge and high spot wear. The wood components are in fine condition with the forestock and handguards being in excellent condition, minimal handling marks, and the buttstock showing numerous light sand marks on the sides where a yellow rack number or unit markings were removed. The scope mount and scope can are all in excellent condition with 98% of their original wartime finishes with clear optics and an intact reticle. The wooden storage chest is in very fine condition with most of its original green paint finishes. The British two draw telescope is also in fine condition with the outer brass tubes showing some minor dents in a couple areas making it a little stiff to draw.
