This is an early production Yugoslavian M48A bolt action rifle that has been converted into a sniper rifle by fitting a Russian PU type sniper mount with an early Yugoslavian 1952 pattern sniper scope. The rifle itself does not have the standard serial number on the right side of the receiver and the left side receiver markings are covered by the PU scope base. The base, mount and scope are those typically seen on the Yugoslavian version of the Russian PU/Mosin Nagant pattern sniper rifle used from late 1948 through 1955. The base is attached to the receiver with two taper pins, two large screws and lock screws. The scope base and mount are both unnumbered and unproofed. The scope itself is marked on top of the scope tube with "ON 1952 BA" with no other Russian or Yugoslavian markings. It has the standard three-post reticle. The Yugoslavian M48 rifle was produced by the Zastava Arms factory and was based on the Czech 24 rifle which was patterned after the German K98 rifle. The receiver ring is stamped with the Communist Yugoslavian crest over "M 48A". With no other visible markings. It has standard tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters and a blade front sight with a sheet metal cover. It has the standard stamped components, barrel bands, trigger guard, and floor plate, all with no serial numbers or proof marks. It is fitted with the standard European hardwood buttstock with a cupped sheet metal buttplate and short handguard, both of which are unnumbered. Some of the parts have a small boxed or circled "BK" factory stamping. The bolt body is numbered "232" on the underside of the handle. Removal of the scope mount base reveals serial number "HR1". It comes with a rubber muzzle cover and a cleaning rod.

Very fine with 95% of the blue finish overall with only edge and high spot wear, grease still packed around the underside of the action and barrel, and visible grease inside the action. The stock and handguard are both in fine condition with minor handling/storage marks and dings overall. The scope mount and scope are both in very fine condition with 95% of their blue finish overall and clear optics.
