Desirable Custer Battle Era U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Carbine

Manufactured circa mid-1875, well-before the Battle of Little Bighorn. It is believed that many of the carbines issued to the 7th Cavalry were in the 33000-43700 range. This example shows signs of heavy use and has the standard markings and features. Includes a Monty Whitley appraisal stating that the carbine is within a few numbers of known 7th Cavalry issued carbines.

ConditionGood, showing mostly a smooth grey patina with some moderate tool marks near the correct replacement rear sight and wear consistent with use on the balance of the gun. The wood is also good with minor dings and scratches throughout, a few minor divots, some moderate chipping/flaking on the right of the forearm, and a visible cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
