Description:

Manufactured in 1869 and features a serial number stamped in block style digits behind the trigger and a single tang screw. The bolt remains in its original .44 rimfire configuration. The barrel has dovetail blade and folding ladder sights and is stamped with the desirable first style legend "HENRY'S PATENT-OCT. 16. 1860/KINGS-PATENT-MARCH 29, 1866" ahead of the rear sight. Sling swivels are mounted on the underside of the forend cap and buttstock and hold a leather sling. The brass trapdoor buttplate holds a four piece steel cleaning rod. The '66 secured Winchester's place in the annals of the West and launched a long line of successful Winchester lever actions that remain popular to this day and still retain the basic form of the '66.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 40% plus original blue finish thinning to a brown with light spotting mixed with some pitting. 70% original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. The very fine brass has an attractive patina overall. The wood is fine with numerous minor dings and scratches. Mechanically fine, but follower hangs up. A solid example of a Winchester Model 1866 rifle with desirable Henry patent barrel address.
