Also known as the John Brown Model, only around 1,000 of the Maynard primed belt revolvers were manufactured from 1851 to 1857. The 31 caliber, 6 shot manual rotating cylinder has floral and military etching, and traditional acanthus scrollwork is engraved on the lock, frame, and hammer. The top strap is marked "MASS. ARMS CO./CHICOPEE FALLS," and "MAYNARD'S PATENT SEP. 22, 1845" with eagle/shield motif is marked on the door of the Maynard primer and accented by border engraving. The frame, back strap, and lock have the matching serial number, and the matching assembly number "907" is on the arbor pin and barrel lug. The front sight is a tall rounded blade, and the rear sight is a small fixed notch at the rear of the top strap. It comes in a hardwood case with a factory pocket powder flask, bullet mold, and tin for primers (one roll inside).
