Remington Brevet Nagant "Model 1877" Gendarmerie Rolling Block Single Trigger Double Barrel Pistol

The Model 1877 Gendarmerie pistol was manufactured for and used by the Belgian Gendarmerie up to at least 1901. Emile and Leon Nagant held exclusive rights to manufactured handguns for the Belgian government up to that year. The upper left side of the frame is marked "BREVET REMINGTON" over the serial number, and the right side is marked "BREVET/NAGANT" and "E.M. &L NAGANT/LIEGE" in a circle. There are Liege proofs throughout, and the matching serial number is marked on the left side of the barrel lug, barrel, and frame along with the breechblock, both hammers, and butt. A wooden tampion with leather strap is included.

ConditionFine with 65% of the refinished blue, most of the loss on the sides of the barrels, some minor pitting under the finish ahead of the trigger guard, plum tones on the sides of the action, and most of the bright heat blue finish on the small parts. The grips are very good and have well-defined checkering and minor dings consistent with their age.
