The wrist escutcheon has a crown over intertwined "F" and "R" for King Frederick the Great (Frederick II) of Prussia whose troops used these muskets in multiple conflicts and greatly expanded the Prussian state under his rule. Some of these muskets were used even into the Napoleonic Wars. The lock is secured by three screws through a serpentine side plate and is marked "POTZDAMMAGAZ." A small "IK" stamp is on the upper left at the breech. The barrel also has a brass blade front sight on top and a bayonet lug on the bottom. The trigger guard has a rather ornate finial and tang. Sling swivels are mounted to the forend and lower tang. The stock has raised molding along the ramrod channel, tear drop flats, a distinct comb with extended fluting nearly to the butt, and a brass buttplate with long spire shaped finial.
