Description:

Similar muskets were manufactured by Henry Nock around 1800. The barrel has a bayonet stud/block front sight, London proof and view markings at the breech, a lined vent, and a girdled and hooked breech. The breech plate/upper tang is dished to act as a rear sight. The lock is marked "H..Nock" at the center and has some lined borders, and the inside is stamped "HN" and "ID." The side plate is more like that of a fowling piece and has a third screw at the tail and is inscribed "Venner" in script. Sling swivels are fitted to the forend and front of the trigger guard. The stock has a checkered forend and smooth wrist.

Rating Definition:

Very good with most of the refinished dull brown finish along the barrel, dark gray and brown patina on the lock, aged patina on the brass, distinct markings, and minor marks and scratches. The stock is very good with mild wear in the checkering, scattered scrapes and pressure marks, a slight repaired crack ahead of the lock, and even oiled finish. Mechanically excellent.
