Desirable Kelly Bros. Marked No. 80 Pattern Single Mounted Spurs with Early Hand-Filed Rowels and Leather Straps

Manufactured in the early 20th century by Kelly Bros., the famous Western spur making company started by P.M. Kelly. These spurs appear to have been manufactured prior to Kelly's time working for J.R. McChesney (c. 1910-1911), because when he again went into business for himself, he began stamping rowels for quicker production. The upturned heel bands are single mounted with lightly engraved nickel and have ornate straight shanks ending in a pair of early hand-filed toothed rowels. They have floral pattern stamped leather straps that are unmarked. Heel band width: 5/8" Shanks: 2 1/8" Rowel diameter: 1 7/8" Heel opening: 3 1/8".

ConditionFine, showing a mostly brown patina with bright nickel mountings, some scattered light oxidation, and some light wear. The leather is very good with some mild wear.
