The makers have confirmed that this rifle was finished on December 23, 1931 for a Mr. Grenville. Blued chopperlump barrels engraved with a band of foliage at each breech and signed "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and "98. NEW BOND STREET, LONDON.", concave rib engraved ".465 BORE" and fitted with a matted raised ramp mounted bead front sight with flip over moon sight, matted raised quarter rib with rear sight of a single folding leaf graduated for 150 yards and with platinum inlaid center line, and London nitro proof marks on the barrel flats for .465 3 1/4" with 75 grs. Cordite and 480 gr. bullet. Casehardened Joseph Brazier side lock action with third fastener, removable firing pin bushings, gold inlaid cocking indicators, and classic "Royal" rose and scroll engraving signed "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" on the locks and "ROYAL EJECTOR" on the underside, blued top lever, blued rolled edge trigger guard with double triggers, the front trigger stippled and articulated, automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE", extended top and bottom tang, and folding rear aperture sight. Well figured pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, checkered grip and forearm, casehardened grip cap with hinged trap cover, containing a spare bead front sight serial numbered to the rifle, vacant gold initial oval, blued iron sling mounts, and a 3/4 inch rubber recoil pad. Stock measurements: length of pull 14 5/8 inch, weight 10 lbs. 10 oz.

Very fine with 98% of the period reblued finish on the barrels. The action exhibits 80% of the original slightly muted casehardened finish, with crisp engraving throughout. Trigger guard retains 90% of the original blued finish with some wear on the edges. Upper tang was fitted with the aperture sight at a later date and the tail of the safety catch was slightly shortened to clear the aperture sight. The stock is very fine with an old coat of varnish and some minor pressure marks throughout. Mechanically fine.
