Scarce DWM Model 1902 American Eagle Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol in Desirable 9mm "Fat Barrel" Configuration

Produced early in the 1900s, the American Eagle Luger was intended explicitly for the United States market, and the 1902 model was one of the first to be made available in 9mm Parabellum, featuring the signature thick four inch "Fat" barrel, making it an essential developmental step from the early 1900 Luger to the iconic P.08 configuration. Essentially a necked-up variant of the 7.65mm Parabellum cartridge, the 9mm Parabellum (aka 9x19 NATO, 9mm Luger) has been one of the most enduring handgun rounds of the 20th and 21st centuries and the constant arch-nemesis of the classic 45 ACP for the title of best defensive/military/civilian/sporting/target/competition/etc. handgun round. Fixed sights, with the American Eagle crest on top of the chamber, flat recessed breechblock, "DWM" marked toggle link, dished toggles with toggle lock, and a smooth back strap with grip safety. The front of the frame is marked "GERMANY", with a hold-open device, leaf recoil springs, straw finished small parts, fine checkered grips and a nickel finished magazine correctly marked "Cal. 9m/m" on the hardwood base.

ConditionVery fine, with 70% of the original blue finish, showing bright wear on the high points and edges, and a mixed gray patina on the grip straps. 40% of the original straw colors remain. Moderately worn grips which are fine, with some dark spots and dings. Mechanically excellent. This DWM 1902 Fat Barrel will fill that empty slot in your collection just fine!
