Fixed blade front and fine adjustable tangent rear sights, "1917" date on the chamber and "DWM" monogram on the toggle link. Three "crown/letter" proofs are present on the right side of the barrel extension, Imperial Eagle firing proofs on the extension, barrel and breechblock. External numbers are matching, excluding the unnumbered front sight and the magazines. Proper "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" markings on the upper safety position and extractor respectively, with a pair of checkered grips. Two nickel finished wood base magazines are included, with a brown leather belt pouch, and a first pattern AEG drum magazine, numbered "68597" with the early telescoping winding rod. Written inside the left grip panel is the note "Found September 26 1918 in German dugout/in the Argonne Woods by/Sgt. P.A. Heise/Signal Corps". No documentation was provided with the item, but it would indicate that this pistol was taken as a trophy during the opening day of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive (26 September through 11 November, 1918).

Very fine, with 85% of the original blue finish, showing bright edge and high point wear, mild spotting in those same areas, and some light handling marks. 60% of the original straw colors remain. The grips are fine, with some mild chips, dents and stains. The pouch shows some mild cracking, scuffs and stains. The drum magazine appears to be in good working order. Mechanically excellent.
