Developed in the 19th century, the harpoon launcher replaced the old hand-thrown whaler's harpoon with a shoulder-fired weapon of superior range and striking power. While not marked, this launcher follows the distinctive profile of the Brand model, with it's full-metal construction and skeletonized buttstock, weighing in at 22 pounds, 10.2 ounces. Bead front and notch rear sights, with an iron ramrod beneath the barrel. One harpoon is included, measuring 21 inches in length, with a cylindrical body and a three-sided angular head.
Good overall for a seafaring weapon and showing signs of real use. Most of the surface has turned a brown patina, with scattered spotting, shallow pitting, and mild handling marks. Some dents are present on the ramrod pipe. Mechanically very good.
