This prototype of the Model 9417 bears many of the standard features of the model as it was eventually released to the public, however, this example is presented with the barrel and receiver unpolished and in the white, empty front sight base, and an empty rear sight dovetail. The receiver is only marked with the serial number, while the barrel shows standard markings including an oval proof. This rifle is consecutively numbered with the next lot in this auction. The included FN America Certificate of Provenance identifies the rifle by model and serial number, stating that it was previously a part of the Winchester Factory Collection where it was maintained by U.S. Repeating Arms.
