Signed Japanese Sword with Desirable 27 Inch Blade

Measuring 38 1/2 inches overall, with a 27 inch blade showing a wavy temper line fitted into a brass habaki, a squared iron tsuba, plain copper furniture (the kashira marked either "16" or "91" in black paint), and a brown cord wrap over a pair of copper menuki. The hardwood saya is wrapped in layers of cloth and leather. A set of four mekugi-ana are present on the tang, with a two part signature on the left side; consignor notes attribute the signature as "echi zen kuni ju kane nori", a smith active c.1624-1644.

ConditionThe very fine bright blade shows some light blemishes, with a few surface splits visible on the right side and a strong wavy hamon. The fittings are good, with wear on the cord wrap, tears/absences in the saya wrap, and some denting/splitting of the habaki.
