Offered here is a variation (fourth model) of Merwin, Hulbert & Co.'s large frame double action revolver manufactured exclusively by Hopkins & Allen in the 1880s with conventional fluted cylinder, bird's head butt with lanyard loop hole, and integral front sight. The frame is marked "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER 1873", the designation for 44-40 caliber, on the left side and "MERWIN, HULBERT & CO. N.Y./POCKET ARMY" on the right side. The serial number "6165" is found on the butt, and the matching assembly number "435" is found on the rear cylinder face, barrel lug, left side of the grip frame and right grip panel.

Excellent, retaining 97% plus original nickel finish showing sporadic flaking on the edges and minor handling evidence. 80% of the vivid original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The grips are also excellent showing some minor handing evidence and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
