U.S. Colt Artillery Model Single Action Army Revolver with Factory and John Kopec Letters

The accompanying factory letter indicates that the original shipping record for this revolver was lost or destroyed but the records do show that the gun was returned for cleaning and repair and subsequently returned to Springfield Armory in 1903 for the Artillery Model conversion. The included Kopec letter suggests that the revolver was originally issued to the 8th Cavalry, confirms the shipping information in the factory letter and the mainspring is a replacement. This revolver has mixed numbers and components typical of the Artillery variants. The grip has "RAC" inspector initials on the bottom and traces of a script letter cartouche on the right side.

ConditionVery good. 30% of the arsenal refurbished blue finish and areas of silvered out case colors remain with a mixture of smooth brown and gray patinas on the balance. The sanded, reoiled grip is good with worn high edges and scattered handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
